Asawana Farms is a Maryland Department of Agriculture Certified Local Farm Enterprise, MDA23-0100. The farm is a regenerative organic teaching farm in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, growing culturally important, nutrient-dense crops such as moringa, bitter leaf, bitter melon, ugu, okra, African eggplant, scent leaf, and other specialty crops. Through its Food as Medicine mission, Asawana Farms connects farming, culture, health, and education. The farm teaches community members, students, and volunteers how to grow organic food, build healthy soil, compost, harvest crops, and understand where healthy food comes from. Asawana Farms grows more than food — it grows knowledge, health, culture, and community resilience.
