National Oyster on the Half Shell Day

National Oyster on the Half Shell Day

Attention, oyster lovers! Imagine stepping into one of the many Annapolis seafood restaurants and being graciously presented with six complimentary Maryland oysters… Thanks to Maryland Oysters on the Half Shell Day that dream is about to become reality!

Maryland Oysters on the Half Shell Day, happening on March 31, honors the dedication of our local watermen and aquaculture farmers, and celebrates the bounty they provide. The food holiday is an ode to the exquisite Maryland oyster, brought to you by Maryland’s Best Seafood and the Oyster Recovery Partnership (ORP)! It’s an opportunity to savor, appreciate, and give back to the Chesapeake Bay that enriches our lives. Every half shell will be returned to Bay waters through ORP’s recycling efforts.

Participating restaurants include Boatyard Bar & Grill, Buddy’s Crabs & Ribs, McGarvey’s, O’Brien’s, and more to be announced. Each restaurant is a member of ORP’s Shell Recycling Alliance, which has collected over 300,000 bushels of oyster shell to be reused in Maryland oyster restoration projects.

Mark your calendars, spread the word, and sign up to partake in the festivities:
