The term “local” gets used a lot and it can be relative to what local means to you. At Maryland’s Best, we define local as being Maryland-grown or sourced (like seafood). Why? Eating locally supports your neighbors and friends and ensures the food will be the freshest possible. In order to help you navigate all the claims out there, Maryland’s Best has identified restaurants that are Maryland’s Best “approved” and feature items from farms or from seafood sources that directly benefit Marylanders!
It is important to note, that not all items on every menu may be local so it’s important to ask before you order and menus are subject to change. We do our best to keep this list updated. We encourage restaurants who are participating to highlight locally sourced items on their menu by utilizing our logo or the farm they are working with. Don’t be afraid to ask your server for details when you are unsure!
If you have a restaurant you want to recommend, please email Kristin at kristin.hanna@maryland.gov.
If you are a restaurant owner who wants to be included on the list, please sign-up for the free Maryland’s Best program here.
