Libertas Estates

We are a family-owned farm and vineyard in Frederick County, Maryland. We love the land, and strive to maintain the natural beauty of it in harmony with the surrounding countryside. The farm is 127 acres, and includes a 10-acre vineyard, a duck program, and 60 acres of cropland managed by a neighboring farmer. We use sustainable practices, as far as possible, in all our farming practices. The vineyard was planted in 2015, after thorough assessment and preparation of the ground. It was found to be well suited for growing grapes based on elevation and soil characteristics in particular soil type and drainage patterns. We selected grape varieties that we enjoy and do well in the Eastern United States, and pair well with food produced in the region. We are surrounded by farms which too strive to maintain the beauty of the area in a sustainable way, and are fun to visit. Our neighbors have farm stores, creameries, breweries, wineries, and coffee shops in the setting of beautiful countryside, with areas to walk or bicycle ride.
