MKONO Farm

Family owned and operated by Jason and Amanda Hand, MKONO FARM has the unique responsibility of producing small batch exclusive heritage products for Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland. Located on the fertile banks of the Patuxent River in Southern Maryland, we use our natural environment to strive to provide food that is healthy, nutritious, and delicious. Our flavorful products are sustainably produced free of hormones, antibiotics, GMOs, and no other junk.

While serving in the US Navy, Jason did multiple tours in Kenya and was greatly influenced by the Swahili culture. “Mkono” (Swahili for Hand) is taken from the phrase “Mkono wa Bwana” or “the Hand of God”. Through the Hand of God we have seen His works and they are great. Mkono embraces the idea that is HIS strength and not ours, and what He has given we will be stewards of. As stewards, we are responsible for the ethical and humane treatment of our animals. All animals start on pasture, are free to roam and are finished perfectly on pasture.

The vision of MKONO FARM is to (1) raise healthful pork, chicken and eggs in a natural environment without the use of antibiotics, growth hormones, synthetics or chemicals of any kind, and (2) continually develop a nature-sustaining life style (3) produce customer value through consistent quality.
